Technical Engineer – 2nd Line support, IT Projects, Microsoft, Cisco

Currently seeking a passionate and personable Technical Engineer who can provide Level 2 technical support to the End User community and work on projects to deliver new or updated infrastructure and desktop solutions based on agreed requirements and timescales.

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £30-£35,100

Hours: 9-5pm (Mon-Fri)

Benefits: Excellent benefits to include 30 days holiday allowance, plus 8 days BH

Base: Central London

Start: ASAP (Happy for notices to be served)

As the successful Technical Engineer (2nd Line) you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be ambitious to broaden your technical knowledge and skills
  • Relevant IT Certifications and/or an IT related Degree
  • Good overall IT Infrastructure and operating software and tools knowledge (Microsoft, Cisco, SCCM, Windows 7/10, Active Directory etc)
  • Experience of working in a customer focused IT support environment which has included technical problem resolution
  • Broad understanding of Service Desk and Desktop services and processes

The following would be desirable (but NOT) needed:

  • Any knowledge around Cloud Technologies (specifically Azure)
  • Experience of managing suppliers
  • Experience in public sector information management and a regulatory environment

As the successful Technical Engineer (2nd line) you will be:

  • Liaising and working with staff, suppliers and other IT teams to diagnose and resolve Incidents and manage problems providing 2nd (sometimes 3rd level) support for Office, network and data centre technologies
  • Ensuring that assigned work is handled promptly and effectively acting as a point of contact for end users, and if necessary, further escalating within IT and IT suppliers
  • Installing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading hardware and software applications.
  • Keeping abreast of developments to end user computing, networking, infrastructure and office technology
